By bringing diverse viewpoints and practitioners together, we can examine socio-ecological relationships and build on the proposition that we (humans) are fully a part of nature. Understanding interconnectedness is critical to successfully resolving challenging issues in our rapidly changing world.

Since its founding in the 1970s, the Wright-Ingraham Institute has organized experimental educational models related to environmental studies. Our new generation of programming continues that vision. In 2019, the Wright-Ingraham Institute rekindled its original educational mission by hosting a Field Stations workshop in Bogotá, Medellín, and the Middle Magdalena River Valley, Colombia. Ten participants from six different countries, working with a mix of core faculty and visiting specialists, engaged in an interdisciplinary co-learning environment.
WRIGHT-INGRAHAM INSTITUTE COVID POLICY, SAFETY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, AND LIABILITY WAIVER
The health, safety and wellness of those participating in our Wright-Ingraham Institute’s (WII) Field Stations 2022 program is our highest priority. Consequently, we approach our role as risk mitigators with thoughtfulness and realism, to implement the most current Covid-19 mitigation policies.
A small group is the foundation of the WII Field Stations experience. This model, we call it a pod, maximizes time spent in open spaces, which greatly reduces many of the risks associated with the transmission of Covid-19. Participants should be aware, however, that there is also substantial time spent traveling together in a van on a daily basis, and in some instances, we will be working indoors. Our accommodations also require room sharing. In these contexts, we will not be socially distanced.
The landscape of Covid-19 is ever-changing. The policies and programming detailed for the 2022 summer may be updated before our Field Stations begin, as we continue to evaluate the situation. We appreciate your understanding as we seek to navigate this difficult time and provide the best and safest possible experience for our participants, partners and faculty.
